Annelies
On April 28, 2024, at 4pm, we will present Annelies by James Whitbourn, an internationally renowned British composer, with libretto by Melanie Challenger. This work is based on “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” in which she writes about her life hiding in an Amsterdam attic with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Anne Frank’s remarkable and penetrating observations form the basis of the libretto. Whitbourn’s haunting, moving music sets the words of her diary for chorus, soprano, and chamber ensemble.
